n Pottsville: Schuylkill County will have a strong presence in the form of the Schuylkill County Sportsmen’s Advisory Board, which is again partnering with D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. to promote county tourism and outdoor recreation at the Great American Outdoor Show Saturday through Feb. 15 at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex, Harrisburg. “We know from last year that Yuengling’s presence will attract people to our booth, where we will ‘sell them’ on Schuylkill County,” SAB Chairman Craig R. Morgan said in a press release. SAB will distribute the third edition of the Schuylkill County Outdoor Recreation Map and the 2015 edition of the Schuylkill County Visitors Bureau’s “Guide for Schuylkill County.” Groups such as Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation, SCSA and its member clubs, watershed groups, conservancy and others will participate. “Yuengling is the key,” SAB Vice Chairman Scott Fellows said. Morgan said that last year many visitors from throughout the state were familiar with some of the outdoors attractions in Schuylkill County after reading articles published by members of the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association, which based its 2012 spring conference in Pottsville, which led to newspaper and magazine articles as well as radio and television programs. “Schuylkill County has had a long working relationship with the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association through its donations to a variety of youth events held in the county from money raised at its annual sportsman’s auction to benefit youth at Harrisburg and the Lehigh Valley Sportsman Show in March at Allentown,” Morgan said.
