Orwigsburg man
not hurt in crash
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — An Orwigsburg man escaped injury when the vehicle he was driving crashed about 11:45 a.m. Saturday on Second Mountain Road, just west of Marcia Road in North Manheim Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said David L. Kaiser, 62, was eastbound when he struck a large amount of snow that had blown onto the highway from an open field and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole and mailbox.
Police said that Kaiser was able to back up and pull his vehicle into a driveway at the site after the crash.
Area fire police assisted at the scene, police said.

LOST CREEK — West Mahanoy Township police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred in the 500 block of Mount Olive Boulevard at 8:10 a.m. Friday.
Police said someone driving an older model red SUV, possibly a Ford Ranger, was driving east, lost control, crossed the westbound lane and struck a wooden fence but stopped just before hitting a garage.
After hitting and damaging the fence, police said, witnesses reported that the driver backed onto the road and fled, traveling west toward Butler Township and Girardville.

Drivers not hurt
in Berks collision
HAMBURG — A crash that occurred at 11:40 p.m. Jan. 23 on Moselem Springs Road, just north of Stitzel Lane in Perry Township, Berks County, is being investigated by state police at Hamburg.
Police said Anthony M. Pavoncello, 22, of York, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Accent south in a right curve when he crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven north by Fabiola J. Rogers, 36, of Hamburg.
Police said neither driver was injured and that the roads were snow-covered at the time of the crash. Pavoncello, police said, will receive a citation as a result of the crash.

charges for man
HALIFAX — A traffic stop conducted by state police at Lykens on Dec. 31, 2014, on Route 146 in the area of Route 225 in Halifax Township, Dauphin County, resulted in charges against a Lykens man.
Police said they stopped a vehicle driven by Daran Alvis Sawyers, 49, at 10:20 p.m. and found the man to be under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance. The man was also found with cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Charges of DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against Sawyers with Magisterial District Judge Rebecca J. Margerum, Elizabethville, police said.
