n Pottsville: Trinity Lutheran Church will hold a benefit recital and reception for the Rev. Philip S. Bendle III Scholarship Fund at 7 p.m. July 12 at the Majestic Theatre. The reception will be held at the Pottsville Senior Center, 201 N. Centre St., immediately following the recital, which will be by Samantha Wood, an accomplished soprano who is in the process of completing her master's degree in vocal music performance from Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan. All proceeds from the event will go to the scholarship fund. Bendle served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran for 27 years. Tickets for the recital and reception are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
