Man charged with

domestic violence

FRACKVILLE - A man was charged by state police at Frackville after a domestic violence incident about 12:05 a.m. Monday at the Rodeway Inn, 703 Altamont Blvd. in West Mahanoy Township.

Police said Sean P. O'Donnell, 45, of Frackville, will now have to appear in district court on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment.

Police said O'Donnell and a 45-year-old Frackville woman had been arguing throughout the day and that the argument escalated when the woman was lying on the bed.

O'Donnell jumped on top of the woman, pinned her down and proceeded to hit her several times in the face, causing redness and swelling, police said.

The man then grabbed the woman around the neck and said to her, "I'll bash your head in and kill you," police added.

Police said that while holding the woman by the neck, O'Donnell headbutted the woman and began "kneeing" her in the groin area and legs, causing redness and swelling, and then fled the area before police arrived.

MAHANOY CITY - A Barnesville man was arrested by Mahanoy City police after an incident about 9:50 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Centre Street.

Police said Christopher D. Snyder, 41, of 413 Back Road, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, turning movements and required signals, traffic control signal violations, duty of operating on approach of emergency vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving and duties at a stop sign.

Police said officers tried to pull over a vehicle driven by Snyder knowing he had an active bench warrant against him, but the man fled through several streets in the community, ignoring stop signs and traffic lights before being stopped on West Centre Street in front of Club 54.

Police said officers drew weapons and ordered Snyder out of the vehicle, and, while being placed in handcuffs, he resisted but was subsequently taken into custody.

Snyder was taken to Schuylkill County Prison on the bench warrant and also admitted doing "three lines" of methamphetamine earlier in the evening, police said.

Police cite man

for possession

MAHANOY CITY - Mahanoy City police filed charges against a Freeland man after an incident at Cocoa Hut on East Centre Street on March 3.

Police said Timothy J. Pendergast, 20, of 99 Terrace Road, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Pendergast for driving at a high rate of speed. Pendergast was ordered out of the vehicle for safety reasons and found to have four packets of synthetic cannabinoids.

Charges against Pendergast were filed with Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, police said.

Man cited twice

in traffic stop

MAHANOY CITY - A borough man was cited by Mahanoy City police for DUI and driving a vehicle without an official Certificate of Inspection after a traffic stop in the first block of South Locust Street on Friday.

Police said Vanardi Legrand, 35, of 1100 E. Pine St., will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle driven by Legrand for having an expired inspection and found the man to be under the influence. He was returned to his residence after refusing to take a chemical test resulting in the DUI charge, police said.

on drug charges

MAHANOY CITY - A Mahanoy City man was arrested Friday by borough police on drug charges.

Police said Brandon W. Brown, 22, of 1019 E. Mahanoy Ave., was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and will now have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

Police said Brown was charged after he sold heroin to a confidential informant. When officers went to the home and informed Brown about the sale, he invited them in and turned over three additional bags of heroin and had $50 in cash, $15 of which was marked money from the original drug transaction.

No one injured

in 1-car crash

ADAMSDALE - A Hamburg man escaped injury when the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving crashed about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday on East Adamsdale Road, just east of Mountain View Drive in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Samuel R. Schaeffer, 41, was driving east when he lost control, went off of the road and hit an embankment causing his vehicle to overturn and come to a stop on its roof.

Schaeffer fled the scene and will now be cited for not driving on roadways laned for traffic, police said.

Landingville firefighters and fire police assisted at the scene.

No one injured in

lost camper crash

TREMONT - Five people escaped injury after a pickup truck lost the camper it was towing, and it struck another vehicle at 7:44 a.m. March 11 on Interstate 81, about 2,500 feet east of Route 209, Tremont Township.

State police at Jonestown said William D. Joyner, 56, of Marcellus, N.Y., was driving 2012 Ford F350 with a camper south on Interstate 81 when it went off the eastern shoulder of the road and the trailer separated from the vehicle and rolled down the median embankment, onto the northbound lane and struck an oncoming 2007 Toyota Matrix driven by Louise Martin, 65, of Portland, Maine. Police said Martin tried to avoid the camper by swerving her vehicle, but her vehicle still hit the roof of the camper, police said.

Michael J. Dean, 28, of Cicero, N.Y., and Cheryl Joyner, 54, of Marcellus, were passengers in the F350. Stephen T. Martin, 63, was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Louise Martin. Police said no one was injured and all drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Pine Grove firefighters assisted at the scene.
