Police probe

Rt. 54 hit-and-run

LOST CREEK - State police at Frackville are seeking information related to a hit-and-run accident in which a Lost Creek man was injured Thursday on Route 54, just west of the Mahanoy Township line in Butler Township.

Police said Jesse Coolbaugh, 19, of Lost Creek, was walking east along Route 54 at 7:50 p.m. when he was struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle. The man was thrown onto the roadway and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene continuing east, police said.

Coolbaugh suffered injuries to his knees, hands, neck and face but was able to walk to his home about a quarter-mile away, police said. He was subsequently taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Lost Creek EMS for treatment.

Boy charged

in auto incident

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS - A 15-year-old boy is being charged with unauthorized use of an automobile from an incident that occurred at 3:45 a.m. Saturday at 247 Schuylkill Ave. in West Mahanoy Township, police said.

State police at Frackville said the boy will be charged through Schuylkill County Juvenile Justice for taking the keys to a 1998 Ford Escort belonging to Angel Pagan, Shenandoah, and using it without her consent or knowledge.

He also faces a traffic violation related to the incident, police said.

Woman faces

DUI charge

BARNESVILLE - A Barnesville woman faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from an incident that occurred at 1:40 a.m. Saturday at routes 1008 and 54 in Mahanoy Township, police said.

State police at Frackville said that during a traffic stop, Stacy Kaufman, 36, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center for a blood test, police said.

DUI charges will be filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, upon receipt of blood test results, police said.

Woman hurt

in accident

FRACKVILLE - A Mahanoy Plane woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 4:50 p.m. Saturday on the mall ramp to Route 61 south in Blythe Township, police said.

State police at Frackville said a 1993 Ford Taurus driven by Kristina M. McCarthy, 19, of Mahanoy Plane, was trying to enter Route 61 south from the Schuylkill Mall ramp. As she slowed, she was hit from behind by a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by David L. Boyer, 33, of Ashland, police said.

McCarthy was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center by Shenandoah Ambulance for minor injuries, while Boyer was not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Boyer was cited for failing to drive at a safe speed, police said.

Charges filed

in dispute

NEW PHILADELPHIA - State police at Frackville investigated a harassment and simple assault incident that occurred at 12:06 a.m. Saturday at 17 Water St.

Police said Cherie Lee Breisch, 41, of Saint Clair, and her boyfriend, Jason Dennis Theodore Williams, 41, of New Philadelphia, came home and had a verbal argument that turned physical.

Police said that Breisch reported that during the argument, Williams punched her once in the right eye.

Williams told police that Breisch was highly intoxicated and came after him when he was in bed and he was just getting her off of him.

Williams was arrested for simple assault and Breisch was charged with harassment, police said.

Woman injured

in one-car crash

PINE GROVE - A Pine Grove woman suffered injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 1 p.m. Thursday on Long Run Road near Laurel Street in Wayne Township, police said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 2008 Scion driven by Courtney A. Tyler, 21, of Pine Grove, was traveling west on Route 443. Police said Tyler traveled off the right side of the roadway and about 15 feet before striking a utility pole.

After impact, the vehicle continued along the berm about 78 feet before crossing both lanes and traveling about 36 feet up the left embankment and stuck a tree, coming to a stop, police said.

Police said Tyler was cited for failing to drive within a single lane.

Police accuse man

of PFA violation

TOWER CITY - State police at Schuylkill Haven charged a borough man with violating a protection from abuse order March 10 in Porter Township, police said Thursday.

Police said Jonathan Dehaan, 24, called the victim, a 50-year-old woman from Tower City, and then visited the home, which was a violation of the order.
