The Little Red Dress Event will be held at a new site this year.

Now in its third year, the fundraiser will be held at the Walk In Art Center, Schuylkill Haven. The event was previously held at the Pottsville Club, which closed in 2013.

"Space wise, we thought that would be adequate," Mary Bardell, auxiliary liaison, said Wednesday about the Walk In Art Center.

The Little Red Dress Event is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb. 9. The snow date is Feb. 23.

Sponsored by the Schuylkill Health Auxiliary to promote cardiac health for women, the event is held in conjunction with American Heart Month in February.

Men are also welcome to attend.

Each year, about 600,000 people die of heart disease in the U.S., according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. For women, heart disease is the leading cause of death.

The fundraiser will feature at least 50 vendors, who will be selling food, art and jewelry, and authors selling books. A talk about etiquette is also on the event schedule.

Appraiser and auctioneer George Blum will be on hand to buy items such as gold and silver. A percentage of the proceeds will be contributed to the Schuylkill Health Auxiliary.

Dr. Joseph Chipriano, Pottsville, will talk about the connection between heart health and dental health.

There will also be a fashion show, a representative from Studio 16 discussing hair and makeup trends and health screenings.

"If you would like to wear something red, that would be nice," event co-chairwoman Paula Nye said.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The cost of admission includes snacks and hors d'oeuvres provided by Vito's Coal Fired Pizza and Restaurant, Saint Clair. There will also be a cash bar.

Tickets are available by calling 570-621-4242 or emailing mbardell@schuylkillhealth.com.
