Man not injured
in 1-car crash
PINE GROVE - A 34-year-old Pine Grove man escaped injury when the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt he was driving crashed about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday on Oak Grove Road, between 2 1/2 Mile Road and Keefer Road in Pine Grove Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Todd A. Hoke was driving west when he lost control of his vehicle on a right curve. The car spun counter clockwise and went off of the road where it continued for about 70-feet before hitting a utility pole, police said.
After hitting the pole, the car spun back onto the road and came to a stop. Police said Hoke fled the scene but was identified by the registration plate that was left at the scene.
Police said Hoke will be charged with driving at an unsafe speed, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles or property and immediate notice of accident to police.
Students charged
for having alcohol
ORWIGSBURG - Two underage students at Blue Mountain High School were charged with possessing alcohol on the school grounds after an incident at 10 a.m. Jan. 6.
State police said that two 15-year-old New Ringgold boys were in possession of alcohol on the school grounds.
Charges were through the office of Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.
Woman injured
in 2-car crash
HAMBURG - A Hamburg woman suffered major injuries from a two-vehicle crash at 8:37 a.m. Saturday on Route 61 and Cabela Drive in Tilden Township.
State police at Hamburg said that prior to the crash, a 1995 Subaru Legacy, driven by Patric W. Boyer, 36, of Schuylkill Haven, with passenger Shane D. Hatter, 39, of Hegins, was heading south on Route 61.
Cynthia L. Hendel, 47, was driving across Route 61 from Jetson Drive to Cabela Drive.
Boyer did not notice the red light and hit Hendel's car on the passenger side after running the light.
Hendel's vehicle spun into a traffic light pole, then continued into an embankment.
She was taken to Reading Hospital by Hamburg EMS for major injuries and was later listed in fair condition.
Hendel was not wearing a seat belt, but Boyer and Hatter were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Police investigate
recent burglary
LAKE HAUTO - Rush Township police are investigating a burglary that occurred recently at a home on Park Drive in Lake Hauto.
Police said someone forced their way into the home through a basement door. No other information was available.
