The National Weather Service, State College, has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. today

The county could get between 2 to 4 inches of snow starting about daybreak, Craig Evanego, a meteorologist with the NWS, said Monday.

"It's never written in stone," Evanego said of how much snow will fall.

High temperatures will be in the teens during the day. Some places could feel like zero degrees, he said.

"It's going to be a cold day," he said.

Visibility will average about one mile, the NWS said.

The rest of the week will see highs in the 20s and possibly 30 degrees Saturday. Snow is again possible Thursday and Saturday, according to the NWS. How much isn't known at this point.

The prospect of more snow has some wanting warmer weather, while others like the white stuff.

"I like snow. I was born in January," Katie Wires, 32, of Pottsville, said as she waited to cross at Centre and Norwegian streets Monday.

She has always liked snow but tends to stay indoors in snowy weather. Wires said she does not look forward to shoveling the snow.

Irene Burke, 60, of Saint Clair, didn't want to hear about the possibility of more snow.

"Depressed," was her response to the potential for more snow.

The dangerous conditions caused by snow isn't something she enjoys because she has to drive in it. She is concerned for her safety because she doesn't want to fall, either.

Donna Florick, Pottsville, said she is prepared for the snow because her laundry is done and she bought groceries Sunday. Still, she said summer can not come soon enough.

"I'm ready for summertime," she said.

Joan Breslin, marketing and service support coordinator with the Schuylkill Transportation System, said weather conditions can become a factor in bus runs.

"It's always fun here when it snows," she said sarcastically about any delays or cancellations of buses.

A decision to change scheduled runs is usually made in the early morning hours. Call 800-832-3322 for questions about bus runs, or check the website www.go-sts.com or their Facebook page.

Radio stations WPPA and WMGH also have information about any delays, Breslin said.

Dan Kelly, superintendent of streets for Pottsville, said he is tired of the snow.

"Of course I'm tired of the snow, but it's my job and I have to do it," Kelly said.

As needed, workers from the city will be out plowing roads when the snow comes.

"Everybody has different opinions on when it's going to start," he said.
