MINERSVILLE - Borough police are searching for a man who is wanted from a May incident involving the manufacturing of marijuana.

Andrew Torres, 23, of 468B Sunbury St., is wanted on charges of felony manufacture of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"He was last known to be in the Ashland area," Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers said Wednesday.

Bowers said that Torres also has previous arrests for firearms violations.

According to the affidavit, officers were called to his home at 1:56 a.m. May 27 for a domestic disturbance.

There they met Kelly Torres, 25, of 1330 Spruce St., Ashland, who lived there with Andrew Torres at that time and was visibly upset.

While speaking with officers, the woman said several times that she was going to kill her husband, Andrew.

The woman said her husband was hiding inside the house and once backup officers from Pottsville and Saint Clair arrived, permission was obtained to search the apartment.

Inside the apartment, police said officers opened a closet door and found several marijuana plants growing in pots, along with potting soil, a fan that was turned on to circulate air and ultraviolet lights, police said.

At the time, police said Kelly Ann Torres was taken into custody but Andrew Torres was unable to be located.

Police said Kelly Ann Torres was charged at that time with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct and was released.

On Aug. 21, the following charges were waived for court for Kelly Ann Torres: possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bowers said that anyone with information on the location of Andrew Torres is asked to call Minersville police at 570-544-2333. All information received will remain confidential.
