n Annville: A Pennsylvania-German Zammelaaf (get-together) is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 7 at Lebanon Valley College’s Mund Center, Route 934 North and East Sheridan Ave. It will be a celebration of Pennsylvania-German heritage with music, speakers plus traditional crafts and other events. n McAdoo: The borough recently issued a reminder for residents that a snow parking ban goes into effect when three or more inches of snow is predicted and a snow emergency is in effect when a prediction is for six inches or more. Vehicles will be allowed to park only on the side of the street where the houses are the even numbers. No parking is allowed in alleys or secondary streets. The following streets will have no parking and will not change from year to year: South Hancock Street on the west side from Sherman to the Kelayres Road; West Grant on the north side from Manning to Logan streets; East Jackson on the north side from North Kennedy Drive to North Cleveland Street; North Lincoln from East Blaine to East Grant on the west side; emergency area for a helicopter landing zone, East Washington Street (cemetery area) from South Lincoln Street to the railroad tracks on the north or south side and snow emergency routes when extreme conditions and/or special circumstances are declared. Violators will pay a fine of $50. The McAdoo Police Department will enforce the regulations and issue all citations. According to the borough, at no time is a resident or hired contractor allowed to dispose of snow back onto a street or alley, pile snow near or over a fire hydrant or at intersections and or any storm drains within the borough. Removed snow must be deposited onto an owner’s property or hauled from the borough. Fines and penalties can be enforced and issued by the McAdoo Police Department and the code enforcement officers. Officers will also enforce an ordinance requiring maintenance of sidewalks during snow and ice conditions. Call the borough for more information.
n Pottsville: The Hillside SPCA will hold a “We Love Our Pets Weekend” at Fairlane Village mall from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 13 and 14 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 15. Valentine items for pets will be available and there will be a merchandise sale and basket raffle. Donations of money, food and items to the shelter will be accepted and appreciated, according to a release. People will also learn how to adopt a pet from the shelter.
n Schuylkill Haven: The Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens Association will resume its meetings at 7 p.m. Monday in the senior center, 340 Haven St. Donations for the Schuylkill Haven Food Pantry will continue to be collected. All donations must be in-date nonperishable items. Following the business meeting, there will be a musical program by two local vocalists. Dues for 2015 will collected from all members. n Sheppton: St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church will stage a takeout-only soup and bleenie sale beginning at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at the St. Joseph Rectory garage, 14 E.
