Syringe found at

Lykens residence

LYKENS — State police at Lykens reported finding items of drug paraphernalia about 11:30 a.m. Jan. 24 in front of a home in this Dauphin County community.

Police said a hypodermic syringe and needle were found in front of 318 Market St.

Snow results in

2-vehicle crash

BETHEL — One person suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:25 a.m. Jan. 26 on Camp Swatara Road, Route 645, in Bethel Township, Berks County.

State police at Hamburg said Andre D. Henry, 25, of Mount Vernon, New York, was driving a 2012 Peterbilt trying to exit Interstate 78 at exit 10 when he lost control on the snow-covered ramp and collided with a 1988 Kenworth being driven north on Route 645 by Andrew D. Spickler, 25, of Sacramento.

Police said Henry was taken to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries and Spickler was not hurt.

Henry will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.

LYKENS — State police at Lykens are investigating a theft that occurred between midnight Jan. 24 and noon Jan. 25 at 615 Market St. in this Dauphin County community.

Police said William Reedinger reported someone stolen his Pennsylvania registration plate “WR03969” and fled the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 717-362-8700.

Teen injured in

rollover crash

LYKENS — A 16-year-old Lykens girl suffered minor injuries when the 2007 Ford Focus she was driving crashed about 7:10 p.m. Jan. 24 on Lubolds School Road in Lykens Township.

State police at Lykens said Sarah A. Leitzel was driving south when she crested a hill and began driving on a snow-covered road. The car went off the road onto the soft shoulder and up an embankment, where it traveled for about 25 yards before flipping onto its roof.

The car then skidded about 30 yards on its roof before coming to a stop, police said.

Police said Leitzel suffered minor injuries but chose not to seek medical treatment.

Police investigate

HALIFAX — A case of identity theft of a Halifax, Dauphin County, woman between Aug. 1 and Dec. 29, 2014, is being investigated by state police at Lykens.

Police said Ashley O’Brien reported someone opened two DTE Energy accounts in Michigan using her identity.

2-vehicle crash

leaves 4 injured

HAMBURG — Four people suffered minor injuries when two vehicles collided on Pottsville Pike, just south of South Fourth Street in Windsor Township, Berks County, about 6:55 p.m. Jan. 23.

State police at Hamburg said Joseph W. Rodriguez, 47, of Rock Hill, New York, was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 south on Pottsville Pike when he ran into the back of a 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by Annie M. Pearson, 44, of New Philadelphia, who was stopped to make a left turn into the Outten Dodge dealership.

Police said Rodriguez tried to swerve to avoid a collision but could not do so.

Rodriguez and his passenger, Lisa Rodriguez, 47, also of Rock Hill, along with Pearson and her passenger, Bryanna P. Pearson, 47, of New Philadelphia, all suffered minor injuries.

Police said both Annie and Bryanna Pearson were taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment and that Joseph Rodriguez will be cited for following too closely.

HALIFAX — State police at Lykens investigated a crash that occurred about 5 p.m. Jan. 3 at the intersection of Hoffman Road and Brown Lane in Halifax Township, Dauphin County.

Police said Jessica R. Erdman, 22, of Halifax, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord south when the car began to slide on the icy road, crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and then went off the road and into a ditch and tree.

Erdman, who was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, was not injured, police said.

WILLIAMSTOWN — State police at Lykens investigated a burglary that occurred either Jan. 20 or 21 on West Broad Street in this Dauphin County community.

Police said Melissa L. Sherman reported someone broke through the side door of her garage and removed a new white, black and pink bicycle, a red riding cart for a bicycle and two chain saws before fleeing.

2-car crash sends

man to hospital

TREMONT — A man was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:20 p.m. Monday at Tremont Street and Swatara Road, Reilly Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Joseph G. Spangler, 29, of Tower City, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger north on Swatara Road approaching the intersection with Route 209 and failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Andrew A. Amon, 79, of Tremont, was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable south on Route 209 when Spangler attempted to turn right and pulled out into the path of Amon. Amon applied the breaks but was unable to avoid hitting Spangler’s vehicle.

The Mercury’s front end struck the left side of the Ford and caused the Ford to spin counterclockwise south and come to rest on the side of the road. The Mercury continued about 50 feet from impact coming to rest partially on the road and on the should of Route 209 south.

Traveling with Amon were Margaret J. Rowlands, 59, Renee McReynolds, 27, and Wayne B. McReynolds, 52, all of Tremont.

Spangler was injured and taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street by Tremont EMS. All were wearing seat belts except Renee and Wayne McReynolds.

Spangler was charged for not stopping at an intersection.

Assisting on scene were the Citizen Fire Company and fire police from Branchdale.

Police: Fugitive

found at Wal-Mart

HOMETOWN — A Walnutport man was arrested by Rush Township police after an incident about 3:20 p.m. Jan. 25 at Wal-Mart.

Police said Eric Messick, 31, was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, resisting arrest, simple assault, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment. The charges are the result of an incident in which Messick was running around the store, causing a disturbance to both customers and employees.

Police said Messick was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier, Orwigsburg, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on the charges, as well as outstanding warrants from Northampton and Lehigh counties.
