Police: Beware
of prize scams
State police at Frackville are warning people not to be duped into giving money for prize contests.
A Schuylkill Township woman reported a call that she received between Monday and Tuesday from an 876 area code in Jamaica telling her to wire money to claim a prize in a contest she did not enter. The woman did not comply.
Police said the phone number originated in Jamaica, and the same information was obtained as was provided to the woman.
Police urge residents not to release personal information or to fall victim to unsolicited callers despite what they may say.
Driver sought
in hit-and-run
MAR LIN - State police at Schuylkill Haven at looking for the driver of Ford Explorer that damaged another vehicle in the parking lot of the King's Village Shopping Center on July 12.
Police said the incident occurred at 9:35 a.m. as a 2011 Toyota Corolla was parked and unoccupied in a parking space and was hit by the Ford Explorer. The driver was driving in the parking aisle when it hit the Toyota, which was pushed into a light pole, and the driver fled the scene, police said.

Man faces charge
in DUI incident
SHENANDOAH - A Shenandoah man was charged with driving under the influence in the borough earlier this month, police said.
State police at Frackville said Roger M. Sadusky, 62, was stopped during a traffic stop on Route 54 at 11:30 p.m. July 3 and allegedly found to be intoxicated.
Charges were filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, police said.

against woman
FRACKVILLE - A Schwenksville woman faces charges of driving under the influence after she was found to be DUI on Friday in Ryan Township, police said
State police at Frackville said Dianne L. Fitzgerald, 24, was stopped on Route 1006 at 10:18 p.m. and found to be DUI. A breath test was administered at the Frackville barracks, and the results indicated that her blood alcohol level was above the 0.08 percent, police said.
Charges were filed at Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville.
