n Coaldale: The Panther Valley summer lunch program offers free lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for children under 18. The sites are as follows: Coaldale, Christ Redeemer Church building, 151 Third St.; Lansford, Grace Community Church, 15 W. Ridge St.; Summit Hill, Heritage Center,. 1 W. Hazard St.

n Cressona: The Cressona Fire Company No. 1 will sponsor a Chinese auction and vendor show Sept. 19 and 20 at the firehouse, 59 S. Second St. A shop-and-drop for the auction is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19. The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 20. Food will be available. For more information, call 570-527-2349.

n Hegins: The 30th annual Bootleggers' Independent Coal Miners Picnic will begin at noon Aug. 9 at Hegins Park, rain or shine. A hot meal will be served at 4 p.m. Disc jockey Gold Dust, Old Gold, The Breaker Boys and Red Halo will provide entertainment. This year's annual mug will feature a photo in memory of Kenny "Simmy" Wolfgang and in honor of Bob "Duffy" Wolfgang. Other names on the mug are in memory of Russ Horoshak Sr., 1983; Willard L. Clark, 2011; Allan R. "Red" Kramer, 2011; Monroe Lucas, 2012; Wallace E. "Wally" Knorr, 2012; Alvin "Chap" Shade, 2012; Earl S. Deeter, 2013; Richard R. "Tippy" Klouser, 2013; Terry L. "Hershey" Reightler, 2013; James L. Bender, 2013; Charles L. Kimmel, 2013; George E. Mervine, 2013, and Raymond E. "Ramie" Deeter, 2014. For information on mugs or tickets, call David A. n Millersburg: The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art will host a performance by the Dauphin County-based band Shotgunn at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 in its new DeSoto Amphitheater for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance by calling 717-692-3699 or visiting the center's website at www.nedsmithcenter.org. Ned Smith Center members can use coupons for 50 percent off the admission fee. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the performance. Picnics are welcome (BYOB).

n Minersville: The Minersville Public Library will sponsor an "Oldies But Goodies '50s, '60s, '70s Concert" from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Minersville Area High School Auditorium, 220 S. Fourth St. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The library fundraiser will include oldies performances and dancers. There will be a concession stand, lottery raffle and door prize. The music of Elvis, Dean Martin, The Beatles and other classic acts will be featured. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 570-544-5196.

n Port Carbon: The Cressona Band will perform in concert from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 21 at the Port Carbon Senior Center, Pike and Washington streets. The junior band will also perform some selections. The concert is open to the public and people should bring lawn chairs to enjoy the show. The rain date is July 22. For more information, call 570-622-8784.

n Saint Clair: A free bus trip for veterans to Washington, D.C., is set for Sept. 6, with departure set for 6:15 a.m. from the Home Depot lot. The trek is free for veterans and $50 for companions. It is sponsored by the Schuylkill County Veterans Trip Organization. For more information, call 570-622-0730. For an application, send a large self-addressed stamped envelope to: SCVTO, P.O. n Shenandoah: The rummage sales scheduled for Friday and Saturday by the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society have been canceled due to the death of society President Valerie E. Macdonald.

n Shenandoah: The Downtown Shenandoah Open Air Farm Market is in full swing from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Fridays through November. Regional farmers and growers set up shop along the east side of the first block of South Main Street and the south side of the first block of East Centre Street near the more than century-old Bolich & Burke building. They offer fruits, vegetables, various plants/flowers and other fare. The event, the oldest of its kind in the region, is sponsored by the Greater Shenandoah Area Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Treasurer Mark Bernardyn is the market committee chairman. Additional farmers/growers are welcome to participate.
