Saint Clair car cruise returns

SAINT CLAIR - The annual Saint Clair car cruise will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. July 19. Fireworks will follow at 9 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Registration for the cruise begins at 3 p.m. on Second Street. In previous years, registration was at the Industrial Park.

In old business, a motion was approved to hire nine swimming pool employees at $7.25 per hour. The employees include Mary Zimmerman, Taylor Felty, Joshua Marx, Noah Marx, Rebekah McClelland, Timothy Panchari, Briana Rossi, Sonja Rossi and Michael Smerlick.

In new business, a motion was approved to authorize a one hour parking sign between the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Extreme Fitness, 17 N. Front St.

In other business, the Department of Community and Economic Development awarded the borough a $345,000 home grant. This grant allows houses with lower income to be rehabilitated.

The borough also collected $2,260.73 in total taxes as of June 1 through June 15. Taxes included $23.10 in occupation tax, $100 in per capita tax and $2,137.63 in real estate tax.

The borough would like to thank Dean Padfield for all of his hard work at the Saint Clair pool. It is now open for business from noon to 6 p.m. daily, weather permitting. Season tickets are available.

The pool is available for parties from 6 to 8 p.m. by contacting 570-294-6276. The pool will tentatively close for the season on Aug. 10.
