A Pottsville man faces Schuylkill County Court action after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing Monday on a charge of having inappropriate sexual contact with a child between April and June.
Michael J. Stokes, 49, was charged with aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault and was committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.
Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, bound over the charge for court after Stokes waived his right to the hearing.
Police said officers were called about the assaults involving a 6-year-old girl and the subsequent investigation led to the charges against Stokes. Police said Stokes is a registered sexual offender with Megan's Law.
Stokes remains in prison in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail.
