MAR LIN - Norwegian Township planners discussed a comprehensive plan at its Monday meeting.

The plan lays out the future growth of the township for the next 10 years. The last plan was updated in 1994.

The Norwegian Township Planing and Zoning Commission talked about the recommendations by the Schuylkill County Planning and Zoning office for review.

The comments centered on five different things: demographic analysis, land use, zoning districts, goals and objectives and implementation.

Chairman Keith Tokonitz said the comments made by Jacqueline Pellish, assistant planner with the Schuylkill County Planning and Zoning office will be reviewed.

"We're not ready. I overshot this thing," Tokonitz said about the plan.

Previously, he said a recommendation might be possible in May. A more realistic time frame would be possibly before October, he said.

Supervisors must hold a public hearing before adopting the plan. Board of supervisors Chairman Robert Kirwan said that will depend on the recommendation by the township planners.

There are no changes in zoning proposed as part of the plan. If there are any major changes, the county planning commission and nearby municipalities must be informed.

"I think it's a well done plan," Tom Yashinsky of Arro Consulting, Orwigsburg, said.

Members agreed that some of the recommendations from the county had merit.
