Gettysburg

Rebecca Sponenburg, a graduating senior majoring in chemistry at Gettysburg College, received the College Chemistry Award by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh.

The award includes both a monetary prize and a framed certificate of accomplishment. Rebecca will also be recognized through a monetary award presented to the Gettysburg College Library in her honor, along with an engraved nameplate. This nameplate will be added to the plaque in the chemistry department listing prior SACP winners.

She is a daughter of Rita M. Sponenburg and a 2010 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

King's

Sam Reiley, Auburn, is serving as a summer student intern with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Silvio O. Conte National Wildlife Refuge in northeastern Vermont.

The areas of focus for his internship include natural resources management, visitor services and refuge management. This internship is part of the highly competitive Discovery Program with the Student Conservation Association and is being sponsored by AmeriCorps where volunteers earn valuable work skills and money for education and develop an appreciation for citizenship.

Sam will enter his junior year at King's College, Wilkes-Barre, where he is working toward a degree in environmental studies with a concentration in wildlife management and minor in biology.

A graduate of Blue Mountain High School, he is a son of Bo and Liz Reiley, Auburn, and a parishioner at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
