n Barnesville: Eleanor Schmerfeld remains president and Nancy Godanis was elected vice president as the result of an election held by the Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. Ruth Ann Fenne was elected secretary and Shirley Becker as treasurer. The group also welcomed two new members, Cindy Godanis and Margaret Miller. RR&D Senior Citizens meets at 1 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at the Ryan Township Fire Company, Route 54. Members usually play bingo and cards following their regular business meetings. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
n Coaldale: A free summer lunch program from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is offered Monday through Friday for children under 18 at the following sites: Christ Redeemer Church, 151 Third St., Coaldale; Grace Community Church, 15 W. n Minersville: The Minersville Public Library will sponsor an Oldies But Goodies '50s, '60s, '70s Concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Minersville Area High School Auditorium, 220 S. Fourth St. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The library fundraiser will include oldies performances and dancers. There will be a concession stand, lottery raffle and door prize. n Pine Grove: The annual Fourth of July Concert in the Park is set to begin at 6 p.m. July 4 at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park, featuring the Pine Grove Communty Band. People are invited to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the performance. People may also arrive early and enjoy a walk on the boardwalk and park trails or do some fishing or boating before the show. The concert is free.
n Pottsville: The Schuylkill Transportation System will be closed in observance of Independence Day, July 4. STS will be operating the fixed route bus service on a normal Saturday schedule July 5. STS will resume normal operations of all fixed route bus service routes and the shared ride service July 7.
n Schuylkill Haven: The Diakon Senior Community Center, rear, 121 Main St., will host a free Movie Madness from 12:30 to 3 p.m. July 15 at the center. It will feature ice cream sundaes and "a movie on us," according to a Diakon release. The feature film will be Disney's "Frozen." Supervised grandchildren are welcome. n Shenandoah: High school registrations in the Shenandoah Valley School District are set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14 through Aug. 15 by appointment only. n Sheppton: An East Union Township community Summerfest is set for noon to 10 p.m. July 3-5 at the township grounds, 10 E. Elm St. The event will include food, games, amusement and the '70s Flashback Show from 6 to 9 p.m. July 4. A fireworks display is set for dusk July 5 with a rain date of July 6.
