MAHANOY CITY - Mahanoy City police arrested a borough man and charged him with threatening another person about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said James Meyers Sr., 34, of 310 E. Mahanoy Ave., was charged with terroristic threats and harassment.

Police said a call was received about a man threatening another man with a knife. At the scene, police said neighbors identified Meyers as the person responsible, and when an officer was trying to talk to him, Meyers stood up and charged at him.

Meyers was taken into custody and became agitated and began to yell and curse, police said.

The victim, Darren Tonne, who resides in a church rectory at 300 E. Mahanoy Ave., reported Meyers had been drinking. Meyers became enraged when Tonne told him to stop drinking because he was drunk and also refused to allow him to take his dog for a walk for that reason, police said.
