n Ashland: A summer recreation program will be held beginning next week at Eureka Park, sponsored by the Eureka Park Fund at the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation. The program is free and registration is not required; however, lunch is not provided. The five-week program dates are this Monday and July 7, 14, 21 and 28. Basketball and volleyball are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday for students in grades 1 through 8, and from 1 to 3 p.m. for students in grades 9 through 12. Crafts will be the focus from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Thursday.

n Brandonville: St. John's Lutheran Church will hold a rummage and bake sale at the church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Everyone is welcome. All proceeds will benefit the church.

n Frackville: The Frackville Museum, located in the Frackville Municipal & Community Center, 42 S. Center St., will have a free open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. People are invited to visit and share memories of the community. Donald Bricker will speak at 2 p.m. about Dixon's Dam, Wagner's Dam and the Blue Canyon. n Hegins: The Tri-Valley Community Band, directed by David Schmaldienst, will hold its second annual spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Tri-Valley High School Auditorium. The concert is free but donations will be gratefully accepted at the door. The concert will feature music from the classical wind band repertoire, Broadway, patriotic and marches. The band is primarily an adult organization but will also accept well-qualified student musicians who have participated in PMEA District Band or the Schuylkill County Band to complete and compliment the sections of the band as needed.

n Landingville: Faith United Church of Christ, 8 Church St., will present a free Praising God with music choral concert at 4 p.m. Sunday. It will feature choir members from several regional churches and will be followed by a hot meal and fellowship. Freewill offerings will be accepted. For more information, call 570-544-2973.

n McAdoo: The borough will have bulk pickups Monday and June 16 and 23. One bulk item per week is allowed. Bulk items do not include tires, concrete, bricks, shingles, water heaters, batteries of any kind, air conditioners or paint cans with wet paint inside, hazardous materials or electronics. Residents are encouraged to cooperate by following the instructions and schedules.

n McAdoo: Borough property owners who did not pay their 2014 garbage bills in full by April 15 have been adjusted with a $50 late fee per unit. The price for them is now $225 per unit billed and must be paid before June 15. If the account is still unpaid by June 15 another $50 late fee will be applied, according to the borough hall.

n New Philadelphia: A free First Responder of Schuylkill County Appreciation Barbecue is set for 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Simon Kramer Community and Recreation Center, 15 Alliance St. The event is to honor county fire, police EMS and emergency room staff and their families. n Pottsville: An American Red Cross Blood Services Northeast Pennsylvania Region blood drive is set for 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St. People who are 17 or older, weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health are eligible to give blood. n Ringtown: St. Mary Roman Catholic Church will hold its annual block party from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday near the church, 82 N. Center St. A car show will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Registration will begin at noon. There will be homemade food, hot wings and games plus must from 7 to 10 p.m. with disc jockey Party Time on Friday and the Polskie Swingmasters on Saturday.

n Ringtown: The Ringtown Valley Fire and Rescue Company's all-you-can-eat breakfast is set for 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the firehouse, 46 W. Main St. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.

n Shenandoah: The second Kielbasi & Pierogie Open Golf Tournament sponsored by the revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc. is set for June 20 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, Barnesville area, with a 1 p.m. tee time, according to the DSI website at www.downtownshenandoah.com.
