Ashland Rotary
Ashley Schultz, a senior at North Schuylkill High School, was named student of the month for March by the Ashland Area Rotary Club.
Ashley's high school activities include diversity club, serving as president; student council, National Honor Society, class historian, cheerleading, Spanish Club, serving as vice president and pep club.
She is a daughter of David and Joanne Schultz, Ashland, and plans to attend Lebanon Valley College, Annville, as a pre-med/biology major with a goal to become a pediatrician.
Pine Grove Area
Alexandra Sheidy and Michaela Zimmerman were named Pine Grove Area School District's students of the month for May.
Alexandra is a daughter of Mike and Kelli Sheidy, Schuylkill Haven. She studies in the college preparatory and advanced placement curricula.
Her high school activities include National Honor Society, student council secretary, FBLA, international club treasurer, varsity club, history club, health and awareness club, cheerleading captain, track and field, band front and SADD.
She plans to attend Lebanon Valley College, Annville, to major in biology and minor in Spanish with plans to become a physical therapist.
Michaela is a daughter of Scott and Heather Zimmerman and Linda Jenkins, Pine Grove. She studies in the college preparatory and ad-vanced placement curricula.
Her high school activities include varsity cheerleading, of which she is captain; yearbook editor, National Honor Society secretary and treasurer, Pine Grove Area's 2014 Female Scholar Athlete, SADD, WPGA, and Big 33 Cheerleading.
She plans to attend Shippensburg University to major in communications/journalism.
Minersville Area
Alyse Ryan and Gregg Costanzo were named students of the month for May at Minersville area High School.
Alyse is a daughter of Gary and Marlise Ryan, Pottsville. Her school activities include serving as class vice president and being a member of SADD, TAT, prom committee and the basketball, soccer and softball teams.
Outside of school, she volunteers at the basketball tournament and St. Michael Church.
She plans to attend Juniata College, Huntingdon, and major in studio fine arts.
Gregg is a son of Marlo Costanzo, Minersville. A member of the baseball team, he plans to pursue a career in the electrical field.
Mahanoy Middle
Mahanoy Area Middle School students Kathryn McCarthy and Seth Soriano were named students of the month for April by the faculty. The program is sponsored by Mahanoy City Elks Lodge 695, and nominees are judged on multiple achievements, character, leadership, citizenship and scholastic aptitude.
Kathryn, a daughter of Jack and Rose McCarthy, Mahanoy Plane, is a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish, Mahanoy City, where she is an altar server. She is in the Mahanoy Area High School marching, concert and jazz bands, chorus, National Junior Honor Society, outreach program, ski club, Theatre Arts, biddy volleyball, seventh- and eighth-grade cheerleading, intramural basketball, swim team and track and field team. She is also a distinguished honor student.
Kathryn volunteers her time at Relay for Life and the local fire company. She plans to attend college.
Seth, a son of Lisa Soriano, Mahanoy City, is involved with the literary society, National Junior Honor Society, outreach program, seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball, cross country and track and field. A distinguished honor student, he volunteers his time helping various biddy basketball teams.
He plans to attend college.
