n Cressona: The American Red Cross Blood Services, Northeast Pennsylvania Region, will stage a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cressona Mall. People 17 and older (16 with parental permission), weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health are eligible to donate blood. n Millersburg: The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art will present the first installment of its new Starlight Outdoor Family Film Series at 8 p.m. May 31. It will feature the 1992 animated film "FernGully: The Last Rainforest." Admission is free. The film is about the "magical inhabitants of a rainforest who fight to save their home threatened by logging and a polluting force of destruction called Hexxus." n Pottsville: The Pottsville Kiwanis Club recently recognized Kelly Malone for 13 years of "exemplary service" as Kiwanis secretary, according to the club bulletin. During the meeting at the Pottsville Zone, the club also acknowledged member George Blum for 30 years service and Ed Kleffman as a 40-year Legion of Honor member.
n Pottsville: The Pottsville Rotary Club will mark its 100th anniversary with a dinner dance at Mountain Valley Golf Course tentatively set for April 17, 2015. According to the Rotary Bulletin, the club plans to invite current and former members, friends of the club and Rotarians within the district. The club also is organizing a 100th anniversary fundraiser and related projects.
n Pottsville: Auditions for the musical "Li'l Bits of Broadway" are set for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 28 and June 2 at the Sovereign Majestic Theater, North Centre Street. Those wishing to audition should attend one of those sessions. The show will feature songs and medleys from several Broadway shows such as "Oliver," "Shrek" and "Kiss Me Kate." Auditions are open to children in kindergarten through college age. Auditioners should be prepared to sing a song from a movie a capella. The actual show will be held at 3 p.m. July 13. n Schuylkill Haven: The Rest Haven Resident Council Fund will sponsor the TGIF Golf Tournament on June 27 at Hidden Valley Golf Course, Pine Grove. The cost is $80 for golfers and $15 for nongolfers. The event will begin at 12:15 p.m. Included are greens fees, cart, lunch, dinner, goody bag, door prizes and prize holes. n Shenandoah: Shenandoah Community Watch meets at 6 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month in borough hall, Washington and Main streets. n Tremont: An event titled "Two Men's Legacy, One Country's Hope," regarding memories of World Wars I and II and WWI veteran Henry A. Tobias and WWII veteran Arthur Tobias will be held at 2:30 p.m. May 25 in the auditorium of the borough building, 139 Clay St. The presenter will be Donald Tobias, son of Arthur and grandson of Henry.
