No injuries in crash involving 2 vehicles
BARNESVILLE — State police at Frackville investigated a two-vehicle crash that happened on Route 54, Barnesville Drive, in Ryan Township around 6:45 p.m. June 22.
Police said Zachary Cyr, 27, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus west when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a left curve and struck a 1996 International Harvester garbage truck that was facing west driven by Raymond Neikam, 63, of Hazleton.
Police said Neikam and his passenger — Broc Croll, 18, of Zion Grove — were performing their normal garbage route and were not hurt.
Cyr and his passenger — Scott Kendricks, 37, of Shenandoah — also escaped injury, police said.
Police said Cyr was cited for not driving on roadways laned for traffic and driving while operating privileges are suspended or revoked.
Ryan Township firefighters and Schuylkill EMS assisted.
Man, woman charged with harassment
McADOO — A man and woman were charged by state police at Frackville with harassment after an incident at 20 N. Manning St. around 4:55 p.m. Sunday.
Police said they were called to the area for a domestic disturbance and found the man and woman separated. The investigation determined there was a verbal argument between the two that turned physical with the woman scratching the man and the man pushing the woman, causing her to fall to the ground.
Both the man and woman, who were not identified, went into different houses and will be charged through the office of Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Man faces charges for found marijuana
HOMETOWN — A Tamaqua man is facing charges by state police at Frackville after an incident at Ridge and Walnut streets in Rush Township around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Police said they saw a suspicious vehicle occupied by a juvenile boy driver and two juvenile female back-seat passengers.
The front seat passenger — Brett Sell, 20 — exited the vehicle and went to his home for cigarettes and would not return, police said.
Inside the vehicle, police said, they detected an odor of marijuana and found a small amount of marijuana and fireworks near the front passenger’s seat area.
The items found in the front area of the car were identified by the three juveniles as belonging to Sell, police said.
