Man charged for spitting incident
MAHANOY CITY — A Wilkes-Barre man was arrested by state police at Frackville after an incident on Morea Road in Mahanoy Township around 2 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Gera Borrero Laracuente, 37, became involved in a verbal argument with a 26-year-old Barnesville man over the price of water.
Then, while exiting the store, police said, Laracuente spit on the man, hitting him on his right shoulder.
Police said, as a result of the incident, Laracuente was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.
Police investigate $67,000 theft
NUREMBERG — State police at Frackville are investigating theft by deception that cost a 73-year-old Hazleton woman $67,000.
Police said on Friday the woman reported being offered a job by a fake employer to send money for business-related debt.
The woman sent various amounts of money to the fake employer, police said,

Man allegedly broke into home
GIRARDVILLE — A 33-year-old Girardville man was jailed after being arrested by state police at Frackville for a burglary on West Main Street around 10 a.m. Friday.
The man, who was not identified by police, was taken into custody, arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $25,000 straight cash bail.
Police said their investigation determined the man entered a home through a basement window and became involved in a verbal altercation with a woman before fleeing, leaving behind a fishing tackle box valued at $40.
The man also caused $100 in damage to a window frame, police said.
Police: Man fought using metal bat
ASHLAND — State police at Frackville have filed charges against a 41-year-old Ashland man following an assault at 1529 Walnut St. around 5:15 a.m. Saturday.
Police said Daniel Leary confronted Edward Harter, 33, of Ashland, and threatened his life while carrying a baseball bat.
Leary then struck Harter two times with the metal bat, injuring his upper right arm and left hand, police said.
Police said Leary then struck Harter’s dog with the bat, pushed Harter out of the house and fled.
As a result, police charged Leary with aggravated assault, cruelty to animals and related offenses and obtained a warrant for his arrest from Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville.

Man charged after traffic stop
BETHEL — A traffic stop by state police at Jonestown on June 10 resulted in charges being filed against a Tremont man.
Police said they stopped a vehicle driven by Michael Johnson, 32, at East Main and North Pine Grove streets and found the man to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and with outstanding warrants.
Johnson has been charged accordingly for the violations, police said.
Police charge woman with DUI
ELIZABETHVILLE — A Williamstown woman was arrested by state police at Lykens after police were called to the Walmart store for a traffic violation around 5:10 p.m. June 13.
Police said their investigation led to the 37-year-old woman, who they did not identify, being charged with DUI and Act 64 drug violations.
The woman was taken into custody and returned to the Lykens station, where she consented to a blood alcohol test and also had her fingerprints taken before being released into the custody of her mother, police said.
Smashed mailbox under investigation
LYKENS — State police at Lykens are investigating a criminal mischief incident that happened between 2 p.m. June 15 and 2 p.m. June 16 at 6336 Route 209 in Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County.
Police said Konstaninos Tsitios reported someone smashed his mailbox and fled.
Damage was estimated at $50, police said.
