SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A Dillsburg man was jailed Monday after leading state police on a chase that ended when he crashed the vehicle he was driving.

State police from Schuylkill Haven said Joshua D. Hanna, 21, was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shen-andoah, on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, DUI and related traffic violations.

He was then committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $15,000 straight cash bail set by Kilker.

Police said the incident leading to the arrest began about 4:50 p.m. after Hanna was involved in a crash on Interstate 78 and fled the scene without stopping.

The man's vehicle was seen on Route 183 by a trooper in an unmarked car near the Schuylkill-Berks County line.

The trooper attempted to stop Hanna, but he refused and fled north on Route 183, eventually driving through Cressona and into Schuylkill Haven. Police said the pursuit ended after Hanna crashed his vehicle after committing multiple traffic violations while fleeing.

Hanna was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and also refused medical treatment following the crash, police said.

Hanna's vehicle was towed from the scene of the crash in Schuylkill Haven and police said Schuylkill Haven police, fire police and EMS assisted at the scene.
