Auburn man hurt,
flown after crash
LANDINGVILLE - An Auburn man was flown to a trauma center for treatment of injuries he suffered when the 2003 Harley-Davidson soft tail motorcycle he was driving crashed about 1:45 p.m. April 25 on Green Tree Drive, in North Manheim Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jerome F. Kimmel, 39, was driving west when he approached a right curve driving at high speed. The man was unable to stay in his lane, drifted to the outside of the curve and lost control of the vehicle, hitting the eastbound guide rail three times as the motorcycle continued west on the eastbound shoulder.
Kimmel was thrown from the motorcycle and was found over the guide rail about 50 feet from the roadway, police said.
Police said the highway was dry and clear at the time of the crash, and Auburn and Pottsville-Schuykill Haven Area EMS units assisted at the scene, along with Landingville firefighters.
Kimmel, who was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, will receive a citation as a result of the crash, police said.
