Woman charged
for crashes
Pottsville police investigated a crash at 11:51 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Morgan Avenue that resulted in charges against a 21-year-old woman.
Police said officers were called to the area and were informed that the driver of the striking vehicle, a Subaru Legacy, had fled the scene on foot.
Police said the Subaru was being driven west on Morgan Avenue at a high rate of speed by a woman later identified as Hailey Sipple, Pottsville, who lost control and struck a trailer owned by Michael Hubiak, Pottsville, causing minor damage.
Sipple's car continued west and struck a vehicle owned by Edward Fox, Pottsville, and pushed it into a third vehicle owned by William Bachman, Pottsville.
Police said Sipple fled on foot and was taken into custody a short time later. She will be charged with driving with a suspended license, damage to unattended vehicles or property and careless driving.
All charges will be filed with Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, police said.
Shen man charged
with drug offenses
SHENANDOAH - A 28-year-old man was jailed after being arrested by Shenandoah police on drug charges.
Police said William Pytak was arraigned on felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor offenses of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and altered or misbranded controlled substances.
Pytak, 14 N. Gilbert St., was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $10,000 straight cash bail.
Police said Patrolman Robert Senape was told by an informant that a large quantity of bath salts was inside a home at 14 N. Gilbert St.
Four people were taken into custody and Pytak, the primary resident, charged with the drug offenses, police said.
Officers said the investigation is continuing and that charges against the other three that were inside the home are pending.

attempted break-in
SHENANDOAH - Shenandoah police are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred at 218 W. Cherry St. sometime Thursday or Friday.
Police said someone tried to enter a church rectory using a tool on the door handles of three doors on the north, west and south sides of the building.
Attempts to enter the building failed and the would-be thief fled the scene, police said.

The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that sobriety checkpoints and roving DUI patrols will be conducted now through Monday on routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 1008, 443, 895, 125,25, 924 and 54.

Teacher injured
during April fight
SHENANDOAH - Shenandoah police said charges will be filed with Schuylkill County juvenile authorities in connection with an incident at Shenandoah Valley High School on April 26.
Police said Monday that as the result of the investigation, a female juvenile will be charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Police were called after a fight between two female juvenile students that resulted in a teacher being injured. The teacher, police said, broke up the fight and was escorting the girls to the principal's office when one of the girls started to fight again.
Police said the teacher was caught between the two girls during the second fight and injured. She was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street by her husband for evaluation, police said.
