TAMAQUA - A borough business was cited on Feb. 24 by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for selling alcohol to a minor.

Police said Tuesday that the charge against Padora's Six Pack House, 209 Railroad St., stems from an incident on Dec. 27.

The matter will now come before an administrative law judge, who has the authority to impose penalties from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.

The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge brought and also mandate training in an effort to educate the license holder on what is required of them by law.

Man faces charges

for bad checks

FRACKVILLE - West Mahanoy Township police charged a man with bad checks after an incident on March 27.

Police said David P. Wolfe Jr., 29, whose address was not available, wrote a check to Jack Rich Inc. in the amount of $364 for home heating oil, but the check was returned for insufficient funds.

Police said a warrant was issued for Wolfe's arrest and ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call them at 570-462-2360 or through the Schuylkill County Communications Center at 570-462-1991.

copper pipe theft

FRACKVILLE - West Mahanoy Township police are investigating a theft that occurred between Feb. 1 and April 6 at 230 S. Wylam St.

Police said Shaun O'Toole, executor of the estate of Eugenia Halaburda, reported someone removed 1-inch copper pipe from the home located in the Altamont section of the township.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-462-2360 or through the Schuylkill County Communications center at 570-462-1991.

TAMAQUA - A borough business was cited by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement after an incident on Dec. 27.

Police said that William Murphy Beer Distributor, 435-443 Pine St., was charged with selling alcohol to minors.

The business can face fines of between $50 and $1,000 for minor infractions or up to $5,000 for more serious violations as well as a suspension or revocation of its liquor licenses and mandated training for the license holder.

break-in, burglary

HEGINS - Foster Township police are investigating a burglary that occurred between 4 p.m. Monday and 6:40 a.m. Tuesday at Foster Materials Inc., 97 Commonwealth Road.

Police said that an unknown person arrived at Foster Materials between 4 p.m. Monday and 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, smashing out a side window to the office area.

The suspect then entered the building, forced open a floor safe and removed between $800 and $900.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-544-2002.

Police investigate

crash; Driver fled

GILBERTON - State police at Frackville are investigating a crash that was discovered about 1 a.m. Wednesday on Upper Main Street, about a mile west of Route 54.

Police said a yet unidentified driver was operating a 2013 Dodge Dart west near the border between Gilberton and West Mahanoy Township and went off the road while rounding a slight curve.

The car went off the north side of the road, continued west,sideswiped a utility pole and then came to a stop against a rock embankment.

Police said a Shenandoah EMS unit discovered the crash, but the driver had already fled the scene.

The vehicle, police said, is registered to Michael Cadau, Frackville, and had to be towed from the scene.
