Pottsville Rotary

Pottsville Area High School seniors Paige Stoner and Benjamin Blake and Nativity BVM High School seniors Grace Kimmel and Tyler Hunyara were named Pottsville Rotary students of the month for February.

Paige is a daughter of Daniel and Denise Stoner, Pottsville. She has been class president three years running and is also a member of the Alethea, Spanish and Interact clubs, National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She is a four-year member of the cross-country and track and field teams and the Female Scholar-Athlete Award recipient.

Paige is an altar server at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, and participates in St. John's youth group.

She plans to attend Lipscomb University, Nashville, Tenn., for nursing in the mid-wife program. Paige's great-grandfather, Loose Stoner, grandfather, Bob Stoner, and mother, Denise Stoner, all were Pottsville Rotarians.

Ben is a son of Michael and Patricia Blake, Pottsville. He is a four-year member and vice president of the marching and concert bands, a four-year member of stage and pep bands and a three-year member of the pit band and Quiz Team, serving as captain of the team his senior year.

He is a member of the National Honor Society, and is involved with the Cressona Community Band, Pine Grove Community Band and Third Brigade Band. Ben is a five-time volunteer for the Schuylkill County Buddy Walk and is a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

He plans to major in civil engineering with a minor in music performance in college.

Grace is a daughter of Robert and Theresa Kimmel, Pottsville, and attends St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Interact Club and yearbook staff, treasurer of the Student Government Association, captain of the soccer team and a member of the track and field team.

She plans to major in nursing and become a nurse practitioner who specializes in neonatal or pediatric care.

Tyler is a son of Todd and Tina Hunyara, Reedsville, and attends St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, where he is an altar server. He is a member of the Interact Club, is involved in campus ministry and volunteers for Meals on Wheels.

Tyler plans to attend Misericordia University, Dallas, Luzerne County, or the University of Scranton and major in physical therapy.

Pottsville Area High School seniors Humza Hnesh and Adalie Zanis and Nativity BVM High School seniors Madeline Domalakes and Lucas Moyer were named students of the month for March by the Pottsville Rotary Club.

Humza is a son of Abdel-Hanrd and Diana Hnesh, Pottsville. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and a four-year member of spring track, winter track and soccer teams and the ecology club.

He is a scholar-athlete and winner of the Schuylkill County Youth Soccer Association Award and the Lehigh Valley Soccer Award. Humza plans to major in pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh.

Adalie is a daughter of Rotarian Tina Zanis, Pottsville, and the late Dave Zanis. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is involved in the Tide Lines print and online newspaper, Wavelengths, and the school district newsletter.

Adalie is a member of the cross-country team and volunteers at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, as a lector, assistant CCD teacher and youth group member. Her passion for four years has been the high school newspaper, and she looks forward to exploring English and journalism more deeply in college.

Adalie plans to attend Penn State University or the University of Pennsylvania and major in English with a minor or concentration in journalism.

Lucas, a son of Brian and Ellen Moyer, Schuylkill Haven, attends St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. He is involved in golf, track, math club, Interact club, Academic Team and National Honor Society. Ranked 10th in his class, Lucas is a Bishop's Scholar and won second place in the Catholic War Veterans Essay Contest. He plans to attend Purdue University and major in engineering.

Madeline, a daughter of Paul and Patricia Domalakes, Frackville, is a member of Annunciation BVM Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, where she participates in the choir. She is a member of the drama club, newspaper, Interact, volleyball and the National Honor Society.

She has won the Bishop's Catholic Scholar award and was named cultural chairwoman of the Knights of Lithuania. She was a VFW District 12 winner and state contestant and is ranked first in her class. In her spare time, Madeline enjoys helping out at the Frackville Museum.

Madeline intends to double-major in history and politics when she goes to college and become a museum curator or intelligence analyst after college.

Pine Grove Area

Erick Flick and Ryan Heim were named students of the month for March at Pine Grove Area High School.

Eric, a son of Russ and Korey Flick, Pine Grove, is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum. His high school activities include JROTC, band, Odyssey of the Mind, football, track and Cardinal Spotlight Theater.

He plans to attend basic training with the Army in South Carolina and Army Medic School in Texas, and start Lock Haven University in January 2015 in the physician assistant program.

Ryan, a son of Jeff and Kelly Heim, Pine Grove, is enrolled in the college preparatory and honors curriculum. His high school activities include football, of which he was co-captain and named to first team all-state at running back, wrestling, of which he is co-captain, track and field, National Honor Society, varsity club and health awareness club.

He plans to attend Lebanon Valley College, Annville, to play football and study pre-medicine in the hopes of becoming an orthopedic doctor.
