Teen faces illegal
tattooing charges
JONESTOWN - State police at Jonestown filed charges against a 17-year-old girl and charged her with illegal tattooing.
Police said the teenager tattooed a 13-year-old girl and that the investigation revealed that she may have tattooed several other juveniles, possibly without sterilizing the tattooing equipment.
Parents are urged to check their children for tattoos, have them medically examined and report any similar incidents to police at Jonestown by calling 717-865-2194.
Pottsville man
injured in crash
TAMAQUA - A Pottsville man suffered minor injuries when the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero he was driving crashed about 9 p.m. Friday on Shady Lane, just north of the state game lands access road in Walker Township.
State police at Frackville said Eric P. Maurer, 47, was driving on Shady Lane when he went off the road and crashed. It was determined that Maurer was under the influence and taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for a blood test and to be treated for his injuries.
The investigation into the crash led police to learn that Maurer was a "wanted person" in Clinton County on an active bench warrant and was subsequently committed to Schuylkill County Prison on that warrant.
Police said Maurer was driving with a suspended license, DUI related, and will have criminal charges filed against him before Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg, pending the results of the blood test.
Man faces charges
after disturbance
HEGINS - A Valley View man was charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven after he was causing a disturbance outside a home in Hegins Township about 11:15 p.m. Sunday.
Police said Wayne Seiger, 28, will have to answer to a charge of public drunkenness before Magisterial District Judge David Rossi, Tremont.
According to police, Seiger was charged after he was intoxicated and causing an ongoing disturbance outside a home at 1036 W. Main St.
