A Pottsville woman faces possible prison time after being found guilty Monday in Schuylkill County Court of three crimes resulting from an incident last August in the city.
Kathy Ann Hosler, 48, is guilty of criminal trespass, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct; and not guilty of institutional vandalism and criminal mischief. The jury of 10 women and two men deliberated less than an hour before reaching its verdict.
Judge Charles M. Miller, who presided over the one-day trial, ordered preparation of a presentence investigation and scheduled Hosler's sentencing for 9:30 a.m. May 22.
Pottsville police alleged Hosler entered 527 N. Third St. about 3:45 p.m. Aug. 4, 2013.
Police said officers were called to the area and found Hosler unruly and uncooperative, refusing requests by officers to leave the property.
Hosler was arrested, physically removed and had to be forcibly handcuffed, police said.
Police said Hosler also screamed obscenities, was highly combative and disturbed residents in the area.
Also on Monday, another jury of six men and six women deliberated about 10 minutes before finding John C. Oswald, 33, of Lansdale, not guilty of simple assault.
Judge James P. Goodman, who presided over Oswald's one-day trial, also found the defendant not guilty of two counts of harassment.
Port Carbon police had charged Oswald with assaulting a woman and harassing her and her son, on Sept. 21, 2013, in the borough.
Borough police Chief Jon J. Bowman testified that he responded to the scene, took photographs and made the arrest.
Prosecutors also have withdrawn charges against five defendants:
Thomas E. Bruno Jr., 26, of Frackville, had been charged with two counts of simple assault and one each of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and harassment. Minersville police had charged him with committing those crimes on July 31, 2013, in the borough.
Danielle M. Fulton, 26, of Tamaqua, had been charge with theft of lost property, theft and receiving stolen property. Tamaqua police had charged her with committing those crimes on June 9, 2013, in the borough.
Maryssa M. Goetz, 19, of Schuylkill Haven, had been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. State police at Schuylkill Haven had charged her with possessing the paraphernalia on May 24, 2013.
Christopher Miller, 332, of Port Carbon, had been charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. County detectives had charged her with committing those crimes on May 19, 2013.
Jeffrey Weicicoskie, 44, of New Philadelphia, had been charged with receiving stolen property. Blythe Township police had been charged with receiving the property on Nov. 19, 2012, in the township.
In each case, President Judge William E. Baldwin signed an order allowing prosecutors to withdraw the charges.
