2 charged for
domestic incident
McADOO - Two people are facing charges by McAdoo police after a domestic incident about 6 p.m. March 23 at 617 S. Kennedy Drive.
Police said James Sokol, Hazle Village, was charged with defiant trespass and resisting arrest, while Lisa Sholtis, 617 S. Kennedy Drive, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct.
Both will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Police said officers were called to the home and tried to take Sokol into custody for trespassing, but he resisted. Sholtis, Sokol's girlfriend, then came onto the street and began yelling and using profane language.
While being taken back to the police station, police said Sokol reached around the divider of the cruiser and struck the officer, who was driving, in the head.
Sokol also resisted at the police station where he continued to yell and came at officers aggressively, police said.
Hazleton man
faces drug charges
McADOO - An investigation by McAdoo police into a vehicle stop at 12:55 a.m. Feb. 21 led to charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia being filed against a Hazleton man.
Police said they stopped a vehicle for an equipment and found a passenger, Arcedo Valdez, 128 S. Church St., with a plastic baggie containing marijuana.
Valdez will now have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Woman charged
for biting officer
REEDSVILLE - State police at Schuylkill Haven are charging an Auburn woman with aggravated assault on a police officer following an incident that occurred at 6:04 p.m. March 28 at the barracks at 23 Meadowbrook Drive in Wayne Township.
Police said that while attempting to transport Tammy Lee Weidman, 33, of Auburn, from the state police at Schuylkill Haven barracks to Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson Street, Pottsville, she bit Trooper Jeffrey Hummel's left arm when he was attempted to fasten her seat belt.
Hummel was left with an "outline bruise" on his left arm and did not receive medical treatment.
Aggravated assault charges against Weidman are pending.
