SAINT CLAIR - A man armed with a gun robbed the Uni-Mart at Route 61 and Russell Street late Sunday night.
Saint Clair police Chief Michael Carey said the robbery occurred at 11:47 p.m. and no one was injured.
Carey said a man entered the store, demanded money from the clerk and showed a semi-automatic handgun tucked in his waistband.
The clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money and the man fled the store.
Carey said police believe the robber is white but he had his face covered, making it difficult to get a good description.
Carey said the man apparently fled the area on foot and authorities do not think he had a vehicle waiting for him.
Assisting at the scene were state police at Schuylkill Haven, Pottsville police, Port Carbon and Schuylkill Haven police and Penn State University Police.
Carey said the investigation into the robbery is continuing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
He asks that anyone with information on the robbery or anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area call police at 570-29-3050 or 570-429-2240. All information will remain confidential.
The robbery came fewer than 24 hours after a man with a knife robbed Quick Shop Kreiser Fuel Service at 198 S. Tremont St., Tremont.
