MINERSVILLE - A 38-year-old borough man was arrested by Minersville police Thursday on drug and weapons charges.
Police said Russell C. Teter, 42 Westwood St., was charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, four felony counts of persons not to possess, use, sell or transfer firearms and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.
Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers, the arresting officer, said the charges against Teter stem from an incident about 11:05 a.m. at his Minersville home.
Bowers said he, police Chief Michael Combs and Patrolmen Richard Clink and Joseph Cavanaugh executed a search warrant at Teter's home and found individually wrapped packets of methamphetamine packed for resale along with a bag containing suspected marijuana.
Also found was a Makarov 9mm pistol and a Jennings 22-caliber pistol, items of drug paraphernalia and a Sentry Safe lock box containing a Walther 22-caliber handgun, a Norinco 9mm handgun, magazines for the weapons and ammunition, Bowers said.
It was learned that Teter was convicted and/or pleaded guilty to a felony crime in May of 2009 that prevents him from legally possessing a firearm.
Both the methamphetamine and marijuana found inside the home were field tested and gave positive indications for each of the drugs, Bowers said.
He said police believe that the 42 Westwood St. address is used for the storage and distribution of controlled substances, namely methamphetamine and marijuana.
Teter will now have to answer to the charges against him before Plachko in his Port Carbon office, Bowers said.
