A Dauphin County man admitted Jan. 24 in Schuylkill County Court that he committed a theft in December 2012 in Tower City.

Dakota S. Boyer, 20, of Wiconisco, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft before President Judge William E. Baldwin. Prosecutors withdrew charges of robbery, conspiracy, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal use of a communication facility, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.

Baldwin accepted Boyer's plea, ordered preparation of a presentence investigation and said he would schedule the defendant's sentencing at a later date.

Tower City police charged Boyer with committing the theft on December 20, 2012.

Baldwin also accepted guilty pleas Friday from three other defendants. In each of those cases, he also ordered preparation of a presentence investigation and said he would schedule sentencing at a later date.

Those three defendants, and the charges against them, included:

Joseph R. Driscoll, 37, of Clifton Heights; conspiracy, theft and false identification to law enforcement.

Douglas R. Rogers, 53, of Myerstown; theft, receiving stolen property and defiant trespass.

Jason J. Sweeney, 32, of Drexel Hill; conspiracy and theft.

In other court action, President Judge William E. Baldwin accepted guilty pleas from, and, pursuant to agreements between prosecutors and defendants, imposed the indicated sentences on, these people:

David S. Zellner, 43, of Tamaqua; driving under the influence; six months probation, $300 fine, $100 Substance Abuse Education Fund payment and 10 hours community service. Prosecutors withdrew a charge of speeding.

Mark N. Zimmerman, 36, of Lavelle; possession of a small amount of marijuana; 15 to 30 days in prison, $50 bench warrant fee and $113 restitution to the state police crime laboratory in Bethlehem. Prosecutors withdrew charges of harassment and violation of synthetic drug prohibition.

Also in county court, a McAdoo man will be under state supervision for two years after being sentenced Tuesday in Schuylkill County Court on a charge of driving under the influence.

Eric J. Bielen, 27, will spend 24 months in the state intermediate punishment program, which combines confinement in a state correctional institution with substance abuse treatment, under the terms of Judge Charles M. Miller's sentence.

Miller also sentenced Bielen to pay costs and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and submit a DNA sample to law enforcement authorities.

Bielen originally pleaded guilty on Dec. 12, 2012, to DUI, with prosecutors dropping a charge of stop sign violation. At that time, Miller sentenced him to spend five years in the county intermediate punishment program and pay costs, a $2,500 fine, $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund and $60 restitution to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, amounts Bielen still must pay.

McAdoo police had charged Bielen with DUI on Aug. 28, 2011, in the borough.

Miller removed Bielen from the county intermediate punishment program on Nov. 4, 2013.

Bielen already is in SCI/Camp Hill, and Miller conducted Tuesday's hearing by videoconference.

Also on Tuesday, Lauren J. Delzell, 41, of Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to public drunkenness, with prosecutors withdrawing charges of accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property and failure to notify police of accident.

Judge John E. Domalakes accepted the plea and sentenced Delzell to pay costs and a $25 fine.

State police at Frackville charged Delzell with being drunk on May 29, 2013. Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, found her guilty on Nov. 12, but Delzell appealed that ruling on Dec. 10.
