n Ashland: The Crossfire Youth Center, 12th and Market streets, offers a safe environment for young people ages 6 to 18 to play games, listen to music and have fun. n Kelayres: Kline Township roadmasters have issued a notice for all residents living on the west side of McAdoo Heights that during times of ice buildup on roadways, Markus Court and Hilltop Road may have to be temporarily closed because of township de-icing vehicles having difficulty traveling those areas placing the driver and vehicle at risk. Roadways will be de-iced and re-opened as soon as possible and when deemed safe for public vehicles, township officials said.

n Minersville: A blood drive by the American Red Cross Blood Services Northeast Pennsylvania Region is set for noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 8 at Mr. D's Interiors LLC, Route 901. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 800-733-2767 or go online to redcrossblood.org. People 17 or older (16 with parental permission) weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health are eligible to donate blood. Donors should bring their Red Cross blood donor card or another form of positive identification.

n Pottsville: Public libraries in the Pottsville Public Library District are participating in a Deppen pie sale now through Feb. 12. The pickup date for the pies is Feb. 26. The 9-inch pies are $9 each varieties include blueberry crumb, apple crumb, strawberry rhubarb crumb, cherry crumb, double crust peach, double crust raisin, shoofly, coconut custard, lemon sponge and no-sugar apple. n Saint Clair: The Schuylkill Transportation System will offer all fare-paying passengers the opportunity to ride any fixed-route bus, all day, for $1 on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. Passengers need to purchase their ticket from the driver while boarding the bus. Registered senior citizens always ride free with their bus pass. n Shenandoah: Copies of "Shenandoah, A Look Back in Time," compiled by retired Shenandoah Valley School District educator Robert C. Yudinsky, have been provided for display to the Shenandoah Area Free Public Library, Washington and Main streets; Catizone's Barber Shop, North Main Street; Shenandoah Senior Living Community, East Washington Street, and Downtown Shenandoah Inc., North Main Street. A copy will also be available at the 201 S. Main St. headquarters of the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society when it reopens in the spring. The work involves a collection of photos of Shenandoah from the late 1800s to the 1970s - more than 200 photos over nine decades, segmented by categories that include the Main Street business district, residential streets, anthracite mining, volunteer fire companies, centers of learning and houses of worship.

n Tamaqua: A representative from the Disabled American Veterans will be available at Tamaqua Borough Hall, 320 E. Broad St., to offer free veterans' claim service for veterans as well as widows and dependent children of veterans. Information and assistance will be provided for service-connected disability claims, low-income pension, health care claims for service-connected disabilities and low income veterans and other questions concerning veterans' benefits.
