Police investigate
cash, check theft
A theft that occurred at 607 Fourth St. in Norwegian Township between 4:30 and 9:30 a.m. Thursday is being investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.
Police said Laurie Bugdanavage, Pottsville, reported someone stole an undetermined amount of blank checks, $380 in cash and an iPhone 4 charger from her dining room table and fled.

Woman to face
assault charges
A 40-year-old Pottsville woman is facing charges by state police at Schuylkill Haven after an incident about 7:40 p.m. Thursday at 145 Chamberlain Ave. in East Norwegian Township.
Police said the woman, who was not identified, argued with an 86-year-old man over possession of the man's vehicle. During the argument, police said, the man tried to grab the keys from the vehicle, at which time the woman pulled away, causing the man to fall to the ground.
The man, who was also not identified by police, suffered minor injuries. The woman fled the area. Charges of recklessly endangering another person and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle will be filed against the woman, police said.
Student faces
conduct charges
MAR LIN - A 16-year-old Mahanoy City boy was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief by state police at Schuylkill Haven after an incident about 9:05 a.m. Thursday at the Schuylkill IU29 in Norwegian Township.
Police said the teenager picked up a desk and threw it in a classroom filled with other students. The desk, valued at $75, broke, police said.
