n Barnesville: Inspirational singer Sherry Anne will perform in concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 20 Holly Road. Admission is free but freewill offerings will be accepted. She will sing and share the story of her journey as a child with a bilateral hearing and speech impairment to a nationally recognized singer. The event will include a soup-and-social served from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. CDs will be available to purchase at the concert. For more information, call 315-465-7578.

n Frackville: St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, 414 W. Oak St., is having a bleenie sale beginning at 11 a.m. today. All are welcome.

n Mahanoy City: Boy Scout Troop 725 will have a backpacks with school supplies giveaway at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elks Lodge, 135 E. Centre St., for students of the Mahanoy Area School Districts. Parents must be present with children. “No early birds please,” organizers said in a release.

n Mahanoy City: The Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite — Tridentine Latin Mass — will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Chapel, South Catawissa Street, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Edward B. Connolly will be the celebrant. Latin-English missals will be provided and the public is welcome. After Mass, the will be a time of fellowship in the chapel hall. n Orwigsburg: The Orwigsburg Area Free Public Library will have a Blow-Out Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at the library, 214 E. Independence St. The cost is $5 per bag for bundled and pre-sorted books.

n Pine Grove: the Pine Grove Senior Citizens group is sponsoring a bus trip Sept. 20 to Amish Experience, Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird-In-Hand. Tickets are $85. The trip includes transportation, tip and a guided tour of Amish farmland, an interactive Amish wedding ceremony and a wedding feast at Plain & Fancy Restaurant. n Pottsville: The Schuylkill County Master Gardeners will have “Something Pumpkin” from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 10 at the Schuylkill County Ag Center, 1202 Center Drive. The cost is $10. Participants will learn how to roast and create pumpkin puree plus how to can and freeze it and learn to incorporate it into recipes. The deadline to be one in 20 in the class is Sept. 6. n Primrose: St. Nicholas Church will have a chicken and halupki dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 18 at St. Nicholas Hall, Route 901. The cost is $10 per platter and meals will be by advance ticket only and include chicken, halupki, mashed potatoes, filling, green beans and roll. People may eat at the hall or take meals out. n Ringtown: St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 106 W. Main St., will have its Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8. The free community event will include food, games, crafts, disc jockey music by Sound Express, hayrides and other activities. n Tamaqua: The Bee’s Knees back to the ’60s rock show will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. The cost is $10 for students and senior citizens and $12 for the general public. All are welcome. For more information, call 570-668-1192. The center will also sponsor “Paint & Sip — Moon & Star Struck” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
