Rebecca Margerum

ELIZABETHVILLE - A Tremont man arrested in connection with an assault on Sept. 30 in Williamstown appeared for a preliminary hearing before Dauphin County Magisterial District Judge Rebecca J. Margerum.

Ryan K. Seitz, 39, of 333 Mahantongo St., was arrested by state police Trooper Jesse R. Snyder of the Lykens station and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, possessing instruments of crime, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Prosecutors withdrew the most serious charge, aggravated assault, and Seitz waived the remaining offenses to Dauphin County Court.

Snyder charged Seitz with going to a home at 128 N. West St. where he grabbed Megan Soricelli and shoved her to the ground. Seitz then held a knife to the woman's throat threatening to murder her and her family, Snyder said.

At that point, Snyder said that Seitz reached for a gun he had in his jacket and told the woman that he was going to kill her if she did not get up.

Christina E. Hale

FRACKVILLE - A Girardville man who led police on a high speed chase on June 1 had charges against him held to court during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale.

David J. Whipple, 19, of 367 Preston Ave., was arrested by Girardville police Patrolman Melville Tomeo and charged with one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving with a suspended or revoked license, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, operating an ATV or snowmobile at an unsafe speed, unlawful operation, driving without insurance, driving without a license, operation on streets and highways and operating an ATV or snowmobile without a muffler; and four counts each of duties at a stop sign and failure to signal.

Hale determined the commonwealth proved a prima facie case and ordered all 18 charges against Whipple held for Schuylkill County Court.

Tomeo said he saw Whipple driving an ATV slowly on Line Street and when he approached him on foot to speak with him, Whipple fled at a high rate of speed. Tomeo said he went to his cruiser and pursued the ATV seeing Whipple drive through four intersections and four stop signs not worrying about anyone's safety.

Tomeo said the man continued on B Street where he drove onto the grass at a high rate of speed, passing children in a park in the area, before fleeing into the woods. About an hour later, the officer said Whipple contacted the police station and left a message on the answering machine saying he was the one chased by police.

Justin T. Kanezo, 20, who has no known street address, was arrested by Pottsville police Patrolman Joseph Welsh and charged with one count each of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy.

Reiley determined the commonwealth proved a prima facie case and ordered all three charges against Kanezo held for Schuylkill County Court.

Welsh charged Kanezo with stealing a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse owned by his grandfather, George Kanezo, from a garage at 1219 W. Norwegian St. Christopher Kanezo, Justin Kanezo's father, reported seeing his son driving the car in Pottsville that evening.
