Police charge man

with fuel theft

TREMONT - State police at Schuylkill Haven charged an Ashland man with stealing roughly 80 gallons of diesel fuel from B&B Coal Co., Joliett, on Tuesday.

Harold McGurl, 40, committed the crime near a clearing adjacent to Jeff's Swamp Road, about one mile west of the Lincoln Road intersection, in Tremont Township between 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 and 3 p.m. Nov. 14, police said Tuesday night.

McGurl backed a vehicle up to a parked excavator, which has just been filled with fuel. Then he climbed onto the rear deck and used an unknown object to break the locking fuel cap and gain access to the fuel tanks, police said.

Police investigate

computer theft

Someone stole a computer tablet valued at $427 from Rent-A-Center, Pottsville, on Monday, state police at Schuylkill Haven said Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 3 p.m. Monday at 1544 Route 61 South, Suite 6174, North Manheim Township, police said.

Store employees observed a man and woman walking around the store near the computers and tablets. One of the suspects removed a Asus-brand 10.1-inch laptop computer tablet and fled the store, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

driver not hurt

DONALDSON - A Carlisle man lost control of his car while rounding a downhill curve on Interstate 81 in Frailey Township during a snow storm Tuesday morning, according to state police at Frackville.

Harold C. Perez Sueiro, 28, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Pasatt when he drove off the road and hit a guide rail at 9:10 a.m.

Perez Sueiro was not injured, but his vehicle had to be towed, police said.

Police charged Perez Sueiro with driving too fast for conditions, according to the public information release report issued Tuesday afternoon.

Coal bin burglar

flees crime scene

NEW PHILADELPHIA - State police at Frackville are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred between 12:30 and 8:30 a.m. Saturday at 76 Macomb St.

Police said someone forced open a small wooden door that allows entry into a coal bin in Tanya Davis's basement.

After forcing the door open, the suspect fled the scene without entering the home.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 570-874-5300.

N.Y. woman hurt

in 1-vehicle crash

MCADOO - A New York woman suffered a minor injury when she lost control of her vehicle on Interstate 81 in Kline Township on Tuesday morning, according to state police at Frackville.

Marilyn Williams, 33, of Appalachin, N.Y., was driving a 2000 Toyota Echo south at 11 a.m. when she left the east side of the road and struck a rock embankment, police said.

Police cited Williams for failing to stay in her lane.
