MINERSVILLE - The Minersville Area school board hired Nanette Bentz as the new assistant principal for grades kindergarten through 12 on Monday night.
Superintendent Carl McBreen said that Bentz, Minersville, who began her new position this week, was most recently a sixth-grade teacher in the Minersville Area Elementary Center.
Bentz replaces James M. Grabusky, who is now the new junior-senior high school principal after replacing McBreen in that position.
Grabusky was previously hired as the assistant principal during the July 2011 board meeting.
In other business, new board member Scott Hunyara was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge David A. Platchko, Port Carbon. The board accepted the resignation of board member Emily Sterling at the October meeting, who resigned due to personal reasons.
The board also recognized two former school board members for their years of service.
Eugene Demcher was recognized for 10 years of service and Scott Pothering for eight years of service.
The next meeting of the board will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 when it reorganizes, which will be followed by a special meeting for general purposes.
